About Tommi
Hey there! I'm Tom! 👋
I'm a student in Interior Design from Iceland, living in Oslo. I currently work at a café/bar and I work both day- and night shifts so my availability time varies from day to day.
Pets have been a constant source of happiness throughout my life. I have a knack for forming quick bonds with animals as my positive, engaging yet chill personality seems to be a language they understand.
There is something magical about the companionship and unconditional love they offer and I find joy in making sure they feel at ease and happy. 🥰
Animals have been my lifelong companions. Growing up surrounded by pets, I've developed a natural affinity for our furry friends. My calming and laid-back energy seems to be a magnet for them.
With a family history filled with cats, dogs and rats, I've had the joy of caring for multiple four-legged friends simultaneously. I've also dabbled in fostering wild cats, as well as petsitting (dogs, cats..but also guinea pigs!), bolstering my pet-care CV. 🐈🐩
Moreover, I have rescue experience as I volunteered for many years in a cat shelter in Iceland, where I'm from. There, I was able to properly learn and master the enigmatic nature of cats. This experience has taught me to be patient and detail-oriented, as the cat language is a very subtle one.
When I petsit, my first priority is always the pet's wellbeing and enjoyment. I'll make sure all their needs are met, they feel stimulated and content. I'm a very calm and patient person so I will happily cuddle with a cat as long as they want and will let a dog sniff as much as they want on a long walk. I'm also very active and will make sure your animal won't lack for any play time.
Let's say for example, that I'm booked to walk a hyperactive puppy. I would start the session with some basic training exercises, then we'd take a 30 min walk (shorter, if they are very young) letting them sniff around, while making sure they don't eat something they shouldn't. Once they're home I'd play with them for a while and give them plenty of treats, if they've been good. 🐶
Another example, I'm booked to petsit an anxious or people-shy cat. I'd start the session by washing my hands, so that I would smell more familiar to them. Then I'd go about finishing all the tasks, giving them the space they need. I'd spend some time trying to engage with them from afar, with their favourite toys and giving them some treats. If they don't engage, I would maybe hide some treats around the home or put some in an enrichment toy if they have one. Either way I'd spend at least an hour at the sitting, making sure the cat is alright.
In brief, my approach will be curated to your pet and their routines. We will go over all this together before the sitting, so that I can ensure the best quality experience for everyone involved.
Personally, I am the parent of an adorable and pampered cat, Yúsef, who I adopted from the shelter I volunteered in. He can be quite territorial so unfortunately I do not host pets.
Creating bonds with animals is second nature to me as I feel like I can truly be myself with them. For that reason, I am confident that I will be the right sitter for your furry friends while you are away. 🐕🐈⬛
